Isle of Skye magic

Our guide dropped us at the base of the Old Man of Storr landscape at around 2am on one ice cold wintry morning. We needed to trek up for about 2 and half hours up through pathways, where most of them, particularly at the later stages of the climb, were quite steep. Once on top, the view is mesmerising.

I arrived just in time to set up my gear and capture the early light. Dawn broke out from my left side, only about 20 minutes after I had all my gear set up. As dawn broke, light began to ‘paint’ with deep golden colour the landscape in front of me. Indeed, I was trembling, not so much with the sub-zero temperature, but with the awe and excitement of such a magical view. The Earth, raw and untouched, is such a beautiful place!

Magestic Waterfalls in Iceland

Iceland is not only endowed with majestic waterfalls. Indeed Godafoss and Gullfoss are two of the most impressive on this magical land.

Godafoss, the ‘Water of the Gods’ is tucked away between Akureyri and Lake Myvatn, in the north east of the island. The moment you arrive there after a long trekking route, you are gobsmacked in wonder and awe: an incredible sight of pure water roaring down, descending unto a pool of deep turquoise-coloured silky surface at the base of the waterfall.

Gullfoss, the Golden Waterfall, offers equally a spectacular view of the forces and wonder of untouched nature, for which Iceland is renowned. Gullfoss is located in the south of the island, on the Hyita river, which is fed by Langjokul, Iceland’s second biggest glacier.
